Best English Language Learning Websites

Learning a new language is a difficult but rewarding feat. With the advent of web and mobile technologies, language learning has become easier and more accessible. Now you can learn and practice a new language from the comfort of your couch.

There are many web platforms and mobile apps that will help you learn a new language from scratch or expand your existing language skills. In this post, I focus only on learning English.

The following collection covers some of the topics that I think are the best resources for learning English, based on my experience as an English teacher. I invite you to consult with them and share your tips with us.

English language learning websites


1. Learn English with the BBC

BBC Learning offers a wide range of resources for learning and teaching English, including areas such as English grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, business English, everyday English, free English lessons, children's English, English quizzes and more.

2. Questionnaire

The Quizlet helps students learn anything, including language, flashcards, and game tests. Teachers can create their own cards to share with students. You can also use the Quizlet search function to find resources for learning English. For example, type in the English Grammar search box and you can access different study groups for all English Grammar.

You can use search filters to find resources created by certified teachers or creators. In addition, Quizlet offers five learning modes: flashcard mode, learning mode, typing mode, spelling mode, and quiz mode. Students can choose the mode that best suits them. 3. Duolingo

Another great place to learn English (or one of the supported languages). Duolingo offers mini-lessons to improve students ’reading, listening, speaking, and communication skills. The Duolingo course includes a variety of skills, each of which has 5 additional levels and each level has separate lessons.

As you progress through the lessons, you will be crowned individually or through skill tests (master codes). With 5 levels in each skill, if you manage to master the skill, you will get 5 crowns. It is also available as a Duolingo mobile app for iOS and Android.

4. Free-U

FluentU enhances your language learning with interactive real-world videos such as movie trailers, music videos, news, inspirational talks, and more. Translated and translated video texts. Students can click on any word in the video to include sentence examples in context definitions. The video also includes tests that allow students to integrate language learning and improve their comprehension. FluentU is also available as a mobile app for iOS and Android.

5. Young

YouGlish (ESL) helps students learn English pronunciation through YouTube videos. The principle of operation is simple and convenient: type in an English word and press "it". YouGlish shows a video where the word is said in real communication ৷ YouGlish supports a variety of English pronunciation methods, including American English, Canadian English, Australian English, British English, Irish English, Scottish English, and more.

6. Dictionary website

This is a collection of the best dictionary websites for students and language learners. Students search for definitions of words, understand the use of words through examples of the original language, get help with grammar and syntax, access synonyms, and so on.

7. Learn English with online teachers

When it comes to improving fluency and verbal communication, nothing is lost in an immersive and real learning experience. There are many platforms that allow you to collaborate with local English teachers and coaches around the world. Some of the best platforms that online language teachers can find and access for students are Verbling.com, Preply.com, Chegg , Cambly.com, Babbel.com, and more.

8. Learn English

LearEnglish is a platform that provides lessons and resources developed by British Council staff to help adult learners develop their English skills. These resources include self-study classes, online interactive classes with teachers, quizzes, games, online tutorials, and more.

Students can start with the free online English test offered by the British Council to determine their current level of English. The site also provides free resources to help students learn vocabulary, grammar, spoken English, listening, reading, and writing. There is also a Business English section where students study a variety of topics to help them master the types of English used in the workplace.

9. Vocabulary learning website

In this collection, you will find some of the best platforms for students to learn and expand their English vocabulary and improve their English proficiency. From learning how to pronounce new English words to learning how to use words in the context of everyday conversation, these sites are perfect for improving your vocabulary.

10. Bus

Busu helps students improve their language learning skills through lessons, tips, and guides. Students may also participate in individual or group lessons under the guidance of professional teachers and tutors. Busuu’s interactive community allows students to share pronunciation and grammar tips, share feedback on language learning, edit exercises, and receive language support from locals around the world. Busuu is available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store.

11. Speak English

Talk provides educational resources to help those who are learning English to speak English fluently. These include English Conversation Lessons, English Video Lessons, English Listening Lessons, Basic English Grammar, English Conversation Lessons, Languages, Phrases, English Pronunciation, and more. Talk English also offers downloadable versions of all its titles for a fee.

12- Online Grammar Learning Area

Students and anyone interested in learning English can develop their grammar on carefully selected websites as a group. The package provides access to grammar lessons, videos, manuals, downloadable worksheets, tests, exercises, and more.

13- The best language learning application

To help students learn a new language, check out this collection of the best iOS apps. From video tutorials, interactive games, and quizzes to one-on-one lessons with English teachers, these apps provide students with the resources they need to embark on a journey to learn their languages.
