City Guesser- Learn Geography through Virtual Video Tours

City Guesser is a geography-based quiz game designed to test users' geographic knowledge. City Guesser's method is simple: you get a short video of a specific place and guess the name of the place with the map provided. City Guesser supports single-player and multi-player games, allowing users to compete with friends and players around the world.

City Guesser’s idea, as its founder explained, is to allow people to explore the world through a virtual video. Since its launch on August 13, 2020, City Guesser has been very popular, especially among geography enthusiasts.

City Guesser is completely free and requires no registration or software download. As a teacher, you can use the City Guesser program to develop students' geographic knowledge, increase their mapping skills, improve their spatial awareness, and increase their cultural knowledge . The multiplayer mode is especially useful, and can be used by students to compete in teams and solve geography-based quizzes.

City Guesser offers a variety of cards that can be used to play the relocation game. Some of these cards are:
  • Map of crowded places: Players try to guess the location of the busiest streets in the world.
  • Map of major cities: Guess the names of places with a population of over 5,000,000.
  • Coastal Map: Players guess the names of cities facing the sea.
  • Capital Map: Players guess the names of the capitals.
  • Snowy Scenes : Players guess the names of snow-covered places.

How to play Guess the City?

Go to City Guesser, select an option (e.g. city, monument, country, etc.) and click enter. Watch the video and follow the tips when you sign up. To guess, click the Get Started button at the bottom of the screen and use the map to determine your location. Use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out.

To highlight your answer, click on the name of the place on the map and click the Guess button. City Guesser will give you feedback on your answer. Tap Next to play again, or tap Start to return to the City Guesser home page.

Useful tips for playing Guess the City

Use the following tips to make accurate estimates:
  • Notice the language in the background of the video. Knowledge of spoken language will help you to know the place, but language alone is not enough.
  • Look at nameplates (such as road signs and signs). They can provide a clue about the city in which they live.
  • Check the numbers. These are the clues provided by the provinces and states
  • Business banners and banners can also help determine your location.
  • The architecture of the building, the weather, the clothes, etc.
